Our customers had a rural eco-home built among the vineyards of the Castell’Arquato countryside.
The building is surrounded by greenery and the owners are firm believers in the importance of natural products, so they asked us to create a swimming pond that would fit in as flawlessly as possible and cater to the needs of their large family, as well as the numerous friends that visit them on a regular basis.
Working in tandem with the family’s expert feng shui consultant, we established which was the best direction for the swimming pond to face and the best position for it on the plot of land. In addition, careful observation of the prevailing winds and exposure to sunlight revealed that it was advisable to build the swimming pond between two tall trees that were already standing in the garden.
As requested by the customers, the swimming pond can accommodate up to 20 people at the same time while ensuring that the health and hygiene standards of the water remain exceptionally high.
The maximum depth is 3 metres, which prevents the water from heating up too much and allows swimmers to dive into it. Large steps make it easier to get into and out of the pond, while also serving as seats and enabling people to unwind and play in a shallower and extremely relaxing area.
There are numerous wetland and aquatic plants in the two biological filtering areas at the two ends of the swimming pond. As well as purifying and filtering the water, these sections have been designed and positioned to collect large amounts of leaves when they fall in the autumn.
In one of the filter areas is a modern metal sculpture that serves as a water feature and sprays three jets of water into the swimming area, adding a dynamic overall sense of movement.
Luserna stone slabs form a walkway around the edge of the pond and make maintenance easier. Adorning the sides are perennial shrubs and grasses that brighten up the pond all year round and help it to blend into the existing landscape wonderfully.
There is room for ten or so sun loungers on the large wooden decking area made of sturdy, diagonally laid larch planks.
The owners only stay in this house at the weekend, so we decided to make it easier to take care of the large lawn around the swimming pond by planting perennial flowers that look beautiful and require less watering and maintenance than a traditional grass lawn.
The flowering lawn means that the area around the house is always bright and cheerful, while also ensuring that our customers have more time to enjoy themselves.
Sunset by the pond is now a truly enchanting experience, with views stretching from the water to the rural landscape.
